Stay the course Panthers, you are on your way. There are no short term fixes. It hurts now, but will payoff in the not too distant future.

Interesting questions raised, but you seem to be married to Markstrom, Dan. He is a good, very young goalie hopeful, but the future of the Panthers doesn't depend on keeping him happy. He has to do his time like every other young player.

It was Tallon who said he called. Why would he care what Gillis would get from Toronto?

Garrison is a UFA, not RFA, so his rights for 6 days probably don't hold much value.

Agreed, this makes no sense long term. Florida has done pretty well in the Goalie department for a lot less cash and Markstrom is possibly the most Promsing Rookie goalies. I think if Vancouver wants to claim someone else is looking at Bobby Lou, it's going to have to be Chicago... who they don't want to trade him to.

I am okay with luongo not coming to Toronto, he would have been great to watch but seems he is pulling a stall now and Florida should get him for very low little....he should help the panthers alot..see la vie

Isn't garrison ufa? Not rfa

So his rights aren't worth too much

Scooby Doo and the rest of the Canuck management team will be here shortly to inform you who would represent appropriate payment for this elite goalie. You best just pay the man or it could get ugly.

Why would any team want that contract? Florida needs to say no.

They need to create an amnesty clause in the new CBA. One buyout per team, one per season.

Tallon has one thing on his mind since becoming GM on day one in Chicago. Win the Cup. He doesn't wait to win. He wants to win it. Will anyone care how Chicago keeps their current team now with cap issues, or will they care more about the fact that they won the Cup two years ago? The latter, obviously.

I think that if the Panthers had Luongo in this year's playoffs that they would have eliminated the Devils.

I am still bitter about Luongo's way of leaving Florida, but i think the guy would elevate the Panthers.

Yes, Theo and Clemmer did exceptionally well this past season and they exceeded my expectations. Can they repeat it, though? I don't know. Tough to say if they will do it again.

The point here is that Garrison will most likely head for free agency. The Panthers need offense. How much offense is available this off-season? Not much, at all. Sure we hear rumors about Ryan from the Ducks, but it's all speculative. Nash? No. The free agency market? Really has no one.

The Carolina Hurricanes got better with Jordan Staal. The Tampa Bay Lightning will be tougher to beat because at least they have a decent goaltender now. The Capitals' offense will emerge again and Ribeiro was a superb addition.

What is the answer to improve the Panthers team? It has to improve. The hardest thing for them to do this upcoming season is to make the playoffs again.

We may see Derek Roy, Dave Bolland....maybe? Who knows what the trade market is like. But here is what we do know, goaltending was solid but still remains questionable.

Bringing in Luongo means completely solidifying the net for four to five years. Markstrom? No goalie prospect ever deserves an open job in the crease. Even Lundqvist started out as a back-up.

I am not fully in favor of getting Luongo, but if Tallon does then i trust his judgement and i respect his decision to improve the team and win.

We'll see what happens. It is his job to kick the tires on any player that can improve the team.

Could be Tallon trying to get the leafs to give up more. TML are one of his main competitors for the 8 playoff spots. if we get better without giving up much in assets, they lose ground.

I'm not married at all to him. In fact, I've been less than enthused about the numbers he has put up since coming to North America. But, it is widely known that he is the "goalie of the future." His health is a concern, especially with knee issues at such a young age, but there is no doubt he's a potential superstar. Would Tallon really be willing to sign him to another more lucrative deal only to see him backup Luongo for 5-6 years? Seems like a terrible plan to me.
